Nightjars on Chobham Common
As temperatures soared over 30C during the day we took a sunset walk on Chobham Common in search of Nightjars. We weren't disappointed. About half an hour after the sun dipped over the horizon the churring began. From one point, then all around us. The nightjars were soon in the air, fluttering by as if on string, clapping and chirping. One even landed on the path ahead of us treating itself to a sand bath. A memorable evening of a truly remarkable bird. See a short slo-mo clip in the Film section.
